Donald Harold "Putts" Henderson, 81, of Trenton, Michigan, passed away on December 27, 2017, at Beaumont-Dearborn Hospital after a months-long battle with an extremely rare disease called AHUS.

Don was born in Trenton, Michigan to Arthur J. Henderson and Margaret J. Sutherby Henderson on January 31, 1936. He attended Slocum-Truax High School where he was an accomplished athlete lettering in football, basketball and baseball. He played center, guard and linebacker on the football team earning League Allstar, Captain, All Suburban and Class B All-State as a Guard (5' 6", 175). He was an Upper Peninsula Legion Allstar in baseball. After graduation, he attended Western Michigan University where he played football. After one year, he returned to Trenton to marry his high school sweetheart Ruth Ann Amo on August 13, 1955.

Don worked for the City of Trenton (D.P.W. and Water Department) for 40 years, retiring in 1995. To date, he is the only employee to celebrate 40 years of employment with the City of Trenton. In retirement, Don enjoyed walking outdoors and at the local mall, reading historical and biographical books, traveling and visiting family and friends and spending the winter months in Flagler Beach, Florida. Don and Ruth made friends wherever they went.

Don is proceeded in death by his parents Arthur J. Henderson and Margaret Jean "Mona" Henderson, his in-laws, Harry J. Amo and Anna M. Porte Amo.

Don is survived by his wife of 62 years, Ruth Ann Amo Henderson; his children, Michael R. Henderson (Sally), Barbara H. Parks (Carl), Stephen R. Henderson, and Mark D. Henderson (Doris); his siblings, Loretta J. McCormick, Richard J. Henderson (Marilyn) and Robert A. Henderson; five grandchildren, Brian, Lyndi, Daniel, Kristin and Alyssa; two great-grandchildren, Elliana and Giavana. Don is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Memorials may be given to NORD – National Organization of Rare Disorders – The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the doctors and nurses at Beaumont-Trenton and Beaumont-Dearborn Hospitals.
